Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich, Österreich, Freitag, 10. August 2018

The Red Bull Ring is one of the newest additions to the MotoGP™ calendar and is already established as one of the most breathtaking venues of the year. High in the mountains near the Austrian town of Spielberg, the hills are alive with the sound of the world’s premier motorcycle racing Championship!

In 2017, the Red Bull Ring hosted a duel that would define the Championship fight. Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) vs Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team), right down to the wire at the final corner. Marquez lunged, Dovizioso kept it together and the Italian took his third stunning victory of the year. Behind Marquez, his teammate Dani Pedrosa completed the podium – on quite a run in the middle part of the season. In Moto2™, it was an EG 0,0 Marc VDS 1-2 with Franco Morbidelli leading Alex Marquez, with Joan Mir pulling clear in Moto3™ to increase his lead in the title fight once again.

The picturesque setting, the incredible venue and the unique characteristics of the Red Bull Ring make the Austrian GP a must visit – check it out this year and see why everyone wants to be there for another Spielberg masterpiece!

About the circuit:
The Red Bull Ring is located in the town of Spielberg in Styria, Austria. The circuit was originally built in 1969 and was known as the Osterreichring. In 1996 it was completely rebuilt with a 4.3km layout and renamed the A1 ring. The track was closed after the 2004 season as it was in need of refurbishment. After three years of inaction, Red Bull began a $70 million reconstruction of the circuit in 2008 and it was finally inaugurated as the Red Bull Ring and re-opened in 2011.
